Crystal Beach Community Blood Drive

By Bill Agnew
On Friday, May 4, L.B. Hunt put together a community blood drive for Crystal Beach in conjunction with the Bay Vue Methodist Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center brought their mobile RV. The goal was for 22 people to register to donate blood. As a community, we had 31 individuals register, 26 were able to give blood, and 17 people were first time donors. To understand how well, as a community we did, the day before the same ladies were in Bryan/College Station on another blood drive and only had 17 people donate blood. For a community that is as much smaller than the Bryan/College Station community to have 9 more donors and 14 more people willing to donate says a lot about the generosity of our community and is something we should all be proud of.

The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center was extremely pleased with the amount of people who showed up to donate blood and there are already plans for another blood drive in the future. If any organization is interested in being a part of the next blood drive, please contact L.B. Hunt at either the Bay Vue Methodist Church or the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Great job to all who came out to donate blood last Friday!
