Dream Bigger!

Oh to be more like Edward Bloom in Big Fish. He sure could spin a yarn. But, as my 17 year old granddaughter told me, “Grandma, it wasn’t just his imagination, it really happened.” We’ve been so fortunate to get to see a couple of productions put on by Clear Springs High School ever since Emma has been in their theater program at school. Yesterday, we attended this year’s production of Big Fish. We laughed, we cried…we saw the movie a long time ago. Albert Finney played the Bigger Than Life – Edward Bloom. Yesterday, after the program, we waited out in the foyer to catch a glimpse, greet and congratulate the actors. We know a few, watched them grow up. Several times, Emma has brought them to stay the weekend with us – oh what an entertaining and animated group they are!

We’re still in amazement of what these young aspiring actors and crew can do on the stage. They’re totally mesmerizing. Emma, who is the Stage Manager, took us behind the scenes to her booth where she follows the play and the script word for word, queuing the lights, orchestra, curtains, scenery, the mermaid, the tornado, you name it!

We went backstage where all the props are ready and waiting for their turn on stage, marks on the floor indicate where to stand so as not to get hit by the rising and falling of each curtain or scenery background. Our young lady, our oldest grandchild, who has been amazing us for all these many years, has been accepted into Baylor in their theater program in the Fall. We couldn’t be more proud. Break a leg, Emma!
