And, once again, the Community steps up to the plate for another good cause. The Eagles hosted a fund raising event for Baby Ethan and his parents Kellie and Stephen. BBQ plates and desserts were sold, folks bid on the silent auction items, there was a rousing game of horseshoes and the washers tossers played for bragging rights. Baby Ethan, 4 months old, was hospitalized soon after he was born. On March 6th, Ethan was admitted into Texas Children’s Hospital, diagnosed with RSV and pneumonia. Respiratory Syncytial Virus, is a common and highly contagious virus that infects the respiratory tract of most children before their second birthday. In Ethan’s case, when he was approximately 3 weeks old. For most babies and young children, the infection causes nothing more than a cold. But for a small percentage, infection with the RSV virus can lead to serious problems such as bronchiolitis, or pneumonia, and can be life-threatening.
Ethan is now home from the hospital and is under 24 hour care at home. Keep up those special prayers for this tiny but strong little boy, Evan’s little brother, Baby Ethan.
Thank you to the Bolivar Peninsula Community for once again uniting as a family to show support for this event. We can’t thank you enough for the support and the prayers that have kept us going. We are grateful for Texas Children’s Hospital doctors, nurses, and staff for the care of Ethan. We are grateful for our friends & community for supporting this event, and we want to thank Carey Rutledge & the Fraternal Order of Eagles for all of their hard work in making this event successful and a special thank you & big hug to Chuck Lindsay for his devotion & hard work but most importantly for his delicious barbecue!
“People Helping People” This is the Eagles motto and that the Bolivar Community sure does live by. It took an army of volunteers to bake items, cook BBQ, potato salad, beans, solicit auction items, set-up, clean up, organize games of cards, washers, horsehoes, live music by Three Way Switch and a community to come and support these activities. It sure was great seeing everyone participate and support Baby Ethan. Way to go Bolivar!!
