East Texas Wineries

As we all know, there has been a huge influx of wineries in the Hill Country of Texas, but did you know about all the wineries in east Texas? Oh My Goodness, what fun. The other day we took off to visit some and had a wonderful day. There are 19 vineyards and wineries in this area. From Nacogdoches north to Jefferson, from Palestine to Sulphur Springs – this will take more than a weekend. CB-0926-1If you are planning a Fall trip, please try this area. There are wonderful places to stay, and if you have something to pull behind your truck, you are in great luck. There are so many places to visit and enjoy, the terrain here is rolling hills and trees everywhere. Driving the area was a joy and very hard to keep our eyes on the road.

One of the wineries we visited was Enoch’s Stomp in Harleton, Texas. We highly recommend this for an afternoon or evening dining. The landscape is beautiful, the people are very friendly and there is a beautiful log home that is a restaurant.

The tasting room is open Wednesday thru Sunday from noon to 10pm. We had so much fun. If you like port (Portejas), they make a light and a dark. You will bring at least one bottle of this home.

Now if you do not have a week to spend, here is a secret, Grapevine. They have 10 completely different winery tasting rooms on Main Street. You can walk to all of them which is much cheaper than hiring a chauffer and you can stumble or walk back to your lodging.

Of course, all the wineries have a wine club – Might just take advantage of one. Hope you get to travel up to East Texas soon as Fall is coming to the beach. It’s already here, the nights are in the 50’s and days are in the 80’s and very little humidity. I will be honest, I have truly enjoyed the non-sweat days, a lot.

See you soon, we will be heading back in a day or two.
