The Crystal Corral Stables in Crystal Beach sponsored two summer Horse Camps for kids from near and far. Crystal Corral Owners Louis and Shelley Bennett must know first-hand the positive effects horses have on youth…and the fun had by all was obvious. On Thursday, nine beginner horse campers attended the Little Britches Horse Camp. Activities included decorating the horses with some paint, an obstacle course, arts and crafts, and some water fun, too. And on Friday, fourteen riders with more experience attended the 3-day summer horse camp. One attendee traveled from as far as Tennessee for some equine fun. The girls began with a meet and greet, then set out to decorate their horses. They enjoyed several fun adventures at the stables including horse musical chairs, kayak races, arts and crafts, and swimming with the horses. The Obstacle Course that riders practiced and competed in included jumps, crossing a bridge, pole bending, various skills that required the horse and rider to work together, and ended with bobbing for apples. Now if that’s not true Horse Fun…I don’t know what is!
