Fishing Report For Nov 18 through Nov 14, 2013

By Ed Snyder/Outdoors
The Gilchrist Community Association wishes our visitors a very filling Thanksgiving Holiday and a NO PARKING FEES on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, Nov 28). So after you’ve feasted on Turkey and pumpkin pie, pack up your family and enjoy a day of fishing here at Rollover Pass. This past week had its ups and downs on the flounder and redfish bite due to adverse weather conditions, but when the tides and weather allowed, the bite was fantastic with good numbers of flounder being boxed by anglers from 14 to 20-plus inches. We expect after the chill of this present cold front settles, the larger saddle blanket flounder (26 to 28inches) will start their annual trek through the pass to spawning grounds in the Gulf. So come on out to the Pass and try your luck on Thanksgiving Day. It’s on us – No Charge!

Speckled Trout
Slow but active when weather and tides allow for night-shift and day-shift anglers (Limit: 15 inch minimum for 10 trout with only one 25 inch trout per day allowed as part of your daily limit).

Redfish (Red Drum)
Bulls and slots are still active in the surf and in the cut (Limit: 20 inches minimum to 28 inch maximum for 3 reds per day, one over 28 inch red -plus bonus red- allowed when properly tagged in addition to your 3 fish limit).

Black Drum
Slow but there are still some good Bulls and keeper eaters coming in (Limit: 14 inch minimum to 30 inch maximum for 5 fish per day with one OVER 52 inches allowed).

Flounder
Was really good prior to this arctic front and should improve to excellent after the chill of this front settles the tides and weather (Limit: 14 inch minimum for 2 fish per day November limit).

Sheepshead
A few nice sheepshead are being caught (Limit: 15 inch minimum with 5 per day Creel).

Gafftop Catfish
SLOW to Nil (Limit: 14 inch minimum for no limit creel).

Whiting/Croaker
Croaker run is definitely over but bull whiting are hitting in the surf and the cut (No Limits).

Sandtrout/Gulftrout
Still great sandies but very few gulf (No Limits).

Blue Claw Crab
Crabbing is GREAT with many hitting and hanging onto the Berkley Gulp soft plastics being fished by flounder anglers – AND I MEAN THEY HANG ON!!!!-(Limit: 5 inches between points with no berry crabs (females with eggs) allowed).

Stone Crabs
VERY SLOW (Limit: only right claw may be kept when 2-1/2 inches above first knuckle).
