There’s always a party going on around here! The Five Guys Party happened over in Driftwood Subdivision that past weekend … excuse me, I meant, the 11th Annual Five Guys Party! Friday night all the canopies were assembled, all different colors, canopy to canopy, some with only 5 inches between their tie-downs. Easy to spot, “mine is the orange one,” or “look for dark blue one.” Rumor has it, 750 pounds of crawfish were boiled out there! Five Guys’ famous chicken was grilled, sides like you wouldn’t believe … none of the sides were really labeled, if it looked good, better take a spoon full of it! Deserts like crazy, none of those were labeled either, but yummy as all get out. Everyone brought their own coolers, you’d see folks wandering around looking into other people’s coolers for something interesting.
The band began at 3 pm, “Billy Poullard & Zydeco Combo.” Washers and bag toss and dancers all in the middle of the tents, the streets filled with vehicles, parked blocks away, except for the golf carts who fit into any vacant spot. Neighbors from 3 or 4 neighborhoods away, they all look forward to Five Guys, the weekend after Crab Festival, we never tire from a get together like this.
See you out on the beach this weekend, set up those canopies early!
