Gardening Gardening Gardening

By Georgia Osten
Yes, I feel like that’s all I’ve been doing lately. My husband bought me 4 bags of mulch, so as I finish doing some weeding, I’ll dump mulch on the garden. My main problem is that I can’t lift the bags. He wasn’t around when I needed a bag, so I kind of “walked” it from the picnic table to the garden. Once there, I can cut the bags and sort of dump half at a time. It’s all good …

I bought 4 more bags and he placed the bags in the garden for me for the next time I have the strength to get out there. Yesterday, I had to take two Aleve before I could manage to get down the stairs.

Speaking of, Sweat Fitness sent me an email yesterday – “oh, how they’ve missed me.” Really, who has the time to sit down and write a guilt email?? Really and truly, I do miss it. My normal exercise routine is a lot easier than this gardening routine I’m involved in right now.

So, the other day, one of our neighbors stopped by. We talked about our vegetable gardens and ALL the stuff he’s planted in his garden. Geez! After he left, I told my husband “he must have a really large garden.” Anyway, I walked him over to look at mine. He said, “So, what do we have going on here?” “Well,” embarrassingly, I said, “here’s my one tomato plant, my old rosemary, two little asparagus that just popped up, an old bell pepper and a newly planted hot banana pepper.” Yep, that’s about the size of it so far. Today, I bought 3 more plants from Parker. They have some beautiful plants if you’re interested.

Bear with me, and believe me, I can’t wait to move on from this gardening subject. I long for the days when I can just go out there to water it.

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you. Email: [email protected]
