Geaux Cajun Again

The 2nd Annual Brad & Big Rich’s Cajun Chef Cookoff was Saturday at Stingaree Down Under. The morning started out cold and windy as the teams set up their stations. But the heat from the kitchens warmed everyone’s spirits for some good ole cajun fun. The four teams: Al T’s, Bud Drive Cajun Cookers, Peninsula Marine, and Bayou Mermaids perfected their recipes for the three categories of Bloody Marys, Gumbo, and Chef’s Choice. Visitors and supporters began mingling and tasting the various creations to cast a vote for “People’s Choice Award.” And the judges tallied their votes for the three categories.

Meanwhile, a silent auction with numerous beach related items brought in funds, highlighted by the pink Yeti cooler donated by Bolivar Tourism. In the end, the overall scores and winners were announced by Big Rich. First Place went to Bud Drive Cajun Cookers, with Master Chef Wes Cernosek. Second Place was awarded to Bayou Mermaids. And Third Place to Al T’s. And the hootin’ and hollerin’ really took over as the crowd named the People’s Choice Award to Bayou Mermaids.
