The Annual Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Golf Tournament was held this past weekend. The tournament is held every year to fund scholarships for deserving high school graduates. With an ideal weekend for golf in the forecast, the events began on Friday night at Tiki Beach Bar & Grill. Tiki hosted the blind draw to determine the teams, followed by a Calcutta auction. In addition, several donated items were displayed in a silent auction.
Nine teams teed it up on Saturday morning with prize money and bragging rights at stake. The morning brought cool temperatures and breezy conditions at the start. And the highlight of the day was the idea that one golfer good enough, and lucky enough, to shoot a hole-in-one on #3 would win a $10,000 prize. As Georgia and Destiny drove the beverage cart with plenty of beer and Bloody Marys, the Lions Club cooked up the sausage and boudin, donated by Doug Romero of Island Lawn Care, for participants and spectators alike.
A big Thank You to all the sponsors and volunteers for making this event another success. Good times, great food and drinks, and a day on the links always brings a Hole-in-One.
