Last Thursday, Galveston County officials conducted a ground breaking ceremony for the county’s new Road and Bridge Maintenance Facility on Bolivar Peninsula. The new facility, located on Noble Carl Drive behind the Crystal Beach Fire & EMS Station, will double the size of the current building bringing it just shy of 8,000 square feet. In addition to housing the Road and Bridge Manager and several
staff on the Peninsula, the facility will house beach maintenance, flood control, beach sticker and fleet service employees. The current facility in Port Bolivar has been in use since 1976 and has weathered several storms throughout the years.
“This is just one of many capital projects that Galveston County is building on the Bolivar Peninsula. As the area continues to rebuild, we are excited to be bringing public facilities and services that are the best in its rich history,” said Galveston County Commissioner Ryan Dennard.
The road and bridge facility construction project is being funded through FEMA Public Assistance Funds as an alternative project.
