The weather gods were smiling on Saturday, March 28th, for the 4th Annual DRIFTWOOD CHARITY GUMBO COOK-OFF hosted by Brian and Jackie Sticker. The pots were boiling, the music was playing and the competition was riding high. Twelve teams competed for bragging rights and the proceeds to donate to charity. The waiting was over by three o’clock as the judges announced the winners. People’s Choice Award went to Team Lange Septic. Second Place for chicken and sausage gumbo was awarded to The Wheelhouse with Advantage Real Estate taking first place and kid’s choice award. In the seafood category, Screamin’ Mimis took second place and #Winning was awarded the first place trophy.

Winners in both categories chose BOLIVAR PENINSULA COMMUNITY OUTREACH as the charity to receive the proceeds of approximately $1,900. BPCO provides many services for the community, including the Food Pantry. It was a glorious day and fun was had by all! Special Thanks to Lance Bradley, Rodney Cavness, Dennis Gassen, The Port Arthur Playboys, Landry Insurance and our celebrity judges Tracy & Michele Byrd and Dana Melecon for helping make the day such a great success!
