Here I sit in sunny California

It’s the last day of our week-long trip. Bittersweet – hate to leave this beautiful family, but missing our Texas coast and Maezy. I’m sure Maezy hasn’t had an opportunity to miss us, Ange said Ed has spoiled her beyond recognition. The Monterey house was brimming with family for this super celebration – First Holy Communion for our eight-year-old granddaughter, Addyson. Two Grandmas had plenty of grands to share, plenty of trips to Trader Joe’s and lots of laundry to keep up with. There’s never a shortage of things to do. We made several trips to the harbor, watching the sea lions lounging in the sunshine with their newborns, catching the sun set from Asilomar Beach, climbing the rocks at Lover’s Point to get a good view of the otters, and witnessing the seals with their babies on a protected beach on Monterey Peninsula.

A day of traveling tomorrow and we’ll be back to the beach later in the evening. Bring on the sun, the heat and the humidity – we’re coming home!

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
