Holiday Lights

Crystaland Lighting ContestIt’s not quite Christmas without the twinkling lights and brightly colored decorations around the house and place of work. But when should we put the decorations up? Is the day after Thanksgiving too early? And each year we decide to set up the same as last year, or come up with a new plan. Do we use colored or white lights? Should we wrap the trees and posts or just the bushes? Wreaths on the windows or candles on the sills? Oh the decisions to be made! The decorations bring cheer to owners, neighbors, passersby, and shoppers.

And this year, Bolivar did not disappoint. As part of the Bolivar Chamber of Commerce Crystaland Parade weekend, homes and businesses entered the lighting contest and were judged by Fran Griffin, Jan Ann Frederick, and Donna Sims. The first place business winner was Ritas & Cream, second went to ReMAX on the Water, and third to Latitude 29.2 Surf Shop. And the home winners were Bobby & Peggy Bouse for first, Jane Ewing got second, and Teresa Geiger took third.

Thanks for bringing some extra holiday cheer to the peninsula. Merry Christmas!
