It’s all about the layers!

When decorating a room, your vision should always start with the bottom layer. In this room that layer is actually a beautiful wood floor. The next layer is a natural rug, maybe raffia and then topped with an animal print. The good thing about this animal print rug is that it is angled and it actually tricks the eye to make the room appear larger. This rug on top of the main rug ties the furniture into a grouping. Since animal prints are not likely to be “in” forever, it is very easy to replace or just remove them. This is an elegant room, made more so with the moldings on the feature wall. Notice the color of the back wall and how it blends with the raffia rug. The white molding is a great contrast. These architectural moldings give the room the interest this wall needs. The one beautiful piece of artwork over the sofa just screams the beach. On the desk to the left there are also pictures of seashells. The lamps on each side of the couch are molded to look like stacked sea urchins, I have seen these same lamps at Marshalls and TJ Maxx. You don’t have to pay a fortune for the look.

HOW TO: SIMPLE BUT BEAUTIFUL CENTERPIECE!

This is the easiest project to make your meal seem important, as important as the people that are dining together. This is an easy way to use what you already have. Take three or if you have a long table five wide rimmed champagne glasses and turn them upside down. Put various seashells under the glass and candles on top. Easy and beautiful!

KEEP SMILING AND REMEMBER TO SPREAD SOME SUNSHINE!

What is “BEACH CHIC”? A design style comprised of a combination of clean lines and organic finishes that work together to create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. The color scheme is inspired by the beach and the natural environment of sun, sea and sand!
