It’s the little things

By Georgia Osten
The other day, I told my husband I wanted to get a “box” for the other TV in the house. I thought it would be nice to go into the other room to watch Hallmark or Lifetime or a movie while he was watching football. No comment. So, last Sunday, taking a break from whatever project I was involved in, I took a seat next to him on the couch and he switched the channel to Hallmark. Huh?? It happened to be one I’ve already seen, but I thought “how nice.”

It’s not that we’re getting old, Heaven forbid, and have to have a TV in each room blaring away. Heck, most of the time, I prefer the quiet. I can’t remember anything from time to time without having to write it down or send myself a message on my phone, so the least noise, the least distraction.

Anyway, I did indeed call Direct TV and they installed the box in another bedroom. Before I got home from work, my husband moved my Grandma Chair & Ottomon into that room. He printed out instructions for me for TV and DVD, along with a list of channels I’m likely to watch and laminated the instructions. Now, how sweet is that??

Thanksgiving is almost upon us, I’ve made a list, hoping I don’t forget anything like that time over 10 years ago when I forgot the cranberry sauce, one of Matthew’s favorites. I’ll never forget the time Mom cooked the bag of giblets inside the turkey. How embarrassing, it was the first year my husband and I were together and she asked him to carve the turkey. SURPRISE!

Wishing you all a lovely Thanksgiving and may all your surprises be good ones and memorable.
