All of the Jane Long Festivals have been outstanding. While is hard to get a group of people to agree on anything, everyone agreed that the 2016 Jane Long Festival was the best. Cannon fire, rifle shots, fireworks, a scavenger hunt, all types of vendors, food, musical numbers, bunker tours, children’s art contest and our play Jane Long, A Woman For All Centuries exceeded expectations. The mission of the festival is to promote art, history and music. Local artists display their creations at Gallery By The Gulf. Ghost On The Coast, Peninsula EMS, Galveston County Historical Commission for Improvements to Ft. Travis and Peninsula Sports Park benefit from the wonderful festival.
Nothing of this magnitude occurs without a lot of support. The Bolivar Cultural Arts Foundation and the Jane Long Society extend their gratitude to all the folk who made this event a resounding success. Countless volunteers, committee chairs, and reenactors graciously worked long hours. Yet, this celebration in honor of The Mother Of Texas could not happen without sponsors.
