Jane Loose, Person of the Year

Jane Loose, Person of the YearBy Linda Elissalde
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
These words from Matthew 25:21 certainly describe the Bay Vue United Methodist Church’s Person of the Year. Jane Loose is a wonderful and faithful servant of the Lord. Her contributions to local and global communities are works of love in Christ’s name. Although she is a small woman who speaks quietly, she gets things done. Jane and her twin Janet were born in a small town of about 500 people in the Midwest. She wound up in Crystal Beach in 1989 where she worked at UTMB medical records department until 2008. She has two children, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Jane and husband Jack are very creative people. She is an excellent seamstress and adventuresome cook while Jack is the proverbial “Jack of all Trades.” He builds furniture, paints and repairs all things broken. Jane’s favorite pastime is spending time with her entire family.

Jane stated,” I was baptized Lutheran, but drifted away from the church. The sign at Bay Vue said ‘Come as you are.’ It spoke to me, and although I was shy, I decided to attend. Everyone was so friendly. Little by little I became involved in the ministry of the church.” And become involved she did! Mrs. Loose serves as Children’s Church teacher/helper, secretary/treasurer of United Methodist Women (UMW), mentors at Crenshaw School, works at Second Going Resale Store and helps with worship planning. In addition, she coordinates outreach and mission projects. Jane makes sure that not only those in need on our peninsula are helped, but she directs projects that help children all over the world.

Pastor Valerie Hudson says, “Just when I need an idea or inspiration, Jane pops into my office with a book or an idea that helps us put God’s word into action. God keeps me on my toes with faithful servants like Jane.”

Jane Loose is indeed that good and faithful servant and richly deserves being Bay Vue UMC’s PERSON OF THE YEAR!
