Last Week’s fun

I am not going to write about the horrible ice, cold, and weather in general, but I will say I do not like it! Please let the good ole days of winter come back, you know those days of 70 for a high and 60 for our lows. Anyway, about last week: we had fun with my sister and our youngest granddaughter Emily. My sister and her friend came down from Blanco for four days so we could visit and go to the Oscar del la Renta showing at the Museum of fine arts in Houston. They also came down to get away from home and family.

Mary, our friend of many years, still has her sister and brother-in-law living with her since Harvey. They had a home in Rockport and Mary is helping them rebuild, as she just finished redoing her home on the Blanco River from the flood on Memorial Day a few years ago. So, they left Blanco on Tuesday and made many stops along the way, finally got here, Galveston, about 5pm. I had a room reserved at the Homewood Suites on Ferry Road & Seawall. I must tell you that is a wonderful place to stay for under $100 a day. The rooms have a small kitchen with a full refrigerator, two really good beds and a large living area. Plus you get a full breakfast and a really nice Happy Hour that includes wine and snacks large enough to be dinner if you choose.

Last Week's fun

Wednesday we played on the Strand and Post Office Streets and had a good lunch at Gumbo Bar. Wednesday evening they had dinner with Rene’ and two of our grandsons. Thursday was our day for the Museum and lunch with Dianne close to the Medical Center where she works. And then off we go for the best style show ever. The tickets were very reasonable and the show lasts till the end of January. Ladies, if you get a chance, please go and enjoy clothes you will never see again. Make a day with friends, have lunch inside loop 610 and take in the exhibit. By the time I got the ladies back to the hotel, they were tired and ready for a glass of wine and dinner.

Friday we visited all day and had dinner at Stingaree, I will say those two girls put down some seafood in four days. Everyday was some sort of seafood except for breakfast. Off they went Saturday back to Blanco with full tummies and happy smiles. Saturday I did not leave the house because Sunday our youngest granddaughter and the man she is seeing came to visit and have all you can eat oysters, of course at Stingaree’s. We really enjoyed watching Emily eat so many oysters, raw and fried. Off they headed for Pearland after our visit and we crashed in the recliners.

So the only good thing about this weather is we both have rested from last week, we are old and need the time off.
