Lenten Luncheons 2017

It was a case of two old home weeks when Bay Vue United Methodist Church hosted their annual Lenten Luncheons. These events include great food provided by the church care groups. Selected speakers are invited to present uplifting messages to attendees. The presenters bring wonderful words each year, but this year was especially gratifying. Both of our speakers were outstanding, and both had long ties to Bay Vue UMC. The lovely Nicole Boddie spoke on March 29th. Nicole served the Bolivar area beside her husband Reverend Marty Boddie. They adopted four children when Marty served as minister of three churches on the peninsula. Nicole has written two Christian Fiction Novels. She has recently answered a call into ministry and received her appointment as a Certified Lay Minister at two UMC churches. Mrs. Boddie will be licensed as a local pastor in the United Methodist Church in July.

Reverend WC Hall who visited on April 5th is well known in the Bolivar Area. He started Bay Vue UMC in the 1960s. WC graduated from Beaumont High School in 1958, Lamar University in 1962 and SMU in 1065. He has served as an active pastor in the Texas Conference for 40 years. WC has authored two books. Pastor Hall’s first book contains stories of his ministry that are filled with laughter and love. WC’s second publication is a collection of his sermons. Although health has forced him to cut back on commitments, he continues to preach when invited to area churches. Pastor Hall still enjoys his hobbies of playing piano and organ, hunting and fishing. Nothing slows this dynamo down.

The Lenten Luncheons are always a delicious and delightful experience. Having two of our favorite people return and deliver inspiring messages made this year’s celebrations even more enjoyable.
