Little Pierce

By Georgia Osten
I guess I should just keep my bag packed. I’m pulling it out again this morning, planning to go back into town to see the Homecoming of my sixth grandchild. Little Pierce was born according to plans on Friday. Well, not exactly “according to plans.” Does anything ever go as planned?? What an alert little guy and so active. Mommy wasn’t kidding about all the activity while he was still contained within her belly. We went back to the hospital yesterday, thinking there would be some down time where we could actually get to hold him. And, there was. Of course, we pretended at sharing, passing him back and forth, not getting too far away if the chance would come to grab him from someone else.

I’ve already seen him in a weeks worth of clothing in just these 2-3 days. You should see his closet at home, PawPaw says he’s got enough clothes to last until his first day in Kindergarten. Today, we’ll get to the house and prepare their Homecoming Dinner for whoever wants to stop by. It’s a flurry of activity around this little guy. He’s probably used to it from being around for the last 9 months. He knows when his Mommy and Daddy are holding him, he coos at them and looks up at them with all the love imaginable.

Welcome to the world Young Pierce Thomas! You are a prince! And once again, “My cup runneth over.”

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
