Mardi Gras

By Georgia Osten
I keep getting asked if we’re going to have a Mardi Gras parade. First of all, I’m certainly not the deciding factor when it comes to the parade. Don’t get me wrong, I love the parade and wouldn’t miss one for the world. I love the floats and the golf carts all decorated with people literally hanging on. I love all the Fur Babies who come to watch. If we’re riding our golf cart in the parade, we’re sure to have doggie treats to throw out as well.

Last year, we decided to sit on the sidelines, we still decorated the golf cart. We had a prime location, right between the Chamber and Golf Car Connection. We had The Middles and all their paraphernalia – scooters, a bicycle, whatever we could fit on the golf cart and in PawPaw’s truck. He went ahead of us to save our spot, carry chairs and treats. The kids were pretty antsy waiting for the parade, so $5 each made up for the wait, Swede’s was nearby. They had no idea what to expect, none had ever been to our Crystal Beach Parade. As we waited for the parade, the kids thought it was pretty cool that they could play around on a Highway no less!

We were all pretty overwhelmed with the amount of beads, trinkets, candy, hats, you name it! Each one of them realized very soon that the beads were heavy and needed to be shed early on.

We’re looking forward to seeing you out there February 13th. The parade will begin at Avocet Park at 11:30 Saturday. Throw me something Mister!
