Shannon O’Brien shot the day’s low score of 30 Thursday at the Ranch but only took home ten bucks for his effort while John Milby’s birdie on the fifth hole earned him the only skin of the day and ninety dollars. Shut out of the skins pot were deadly putting Charlie Brannan and Sage Road ace Ronnie, who covered each other up with birdies on the third hole. Mike Comeaux had an uncharacteristic 32, Paul Williams shot 35, Mike VanZandt 33, Brannan 35, and Patty and the Dabbler had 36’s. Bob Jackson watched his putt stop one inch from the cup on the 8th green, named the “Taco” by Jentry Weisinger because, well, the green is shaped like a crispy taco shell. Designed by renowned golf course architect Will Armstrong, the “Taco” is one of the toughest Par 3’s anywhere. Protected by water left and sand everywhere else, the Par 3 has been called the hardest Par 3 in Texas by some.
