Mother’s Day breakfast at the Eagles

By Bill Agnew
The Men’s aerie provided free breakfast to all mothers at Crystal Beach on Mother’s Day morning. Somewhere around 80 plates of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits, gravy, waffles and pancakes were served. This is an important day for the Fraternal Order of Eagles because our organization not only came up with the idea of a day to celebrate and give thanks to our mothers, but spent 10 years of activism pushing for the implementation of Mother’s Day until President Woodrow Wilson signed a Congressional Bill designating the second Sunday every May to honor our mothers. Thank you to all who helped and we hope to see y’all again for breakfast.
