Never a Dull Moment

By Georgia Osten
I never miss a time to be with a friend, especially when she’s paying. That is, the registration for the Watermelon Crawl, she babied that EGG for the entire trip. She wouldn’t let me touch it, claimed I might poke my finger into its soft Baby shell. So, we went on this Watermelon Crawl thing the other day. Oh my goodness, she never mentioned it would take THE WHOLE DAY! Does she like me that much – she’d want to spend the whole day with me? I’m not easy to take for a whole day, but neither is she!

This is Breakfast, need I say more? She got the fruit, I got the veggies and shrimp. And, this is the way the whole day progressed. It was all downhill from there. Just kidding, it was a blast.

Every stop offered another treat, be it links, deviled eggs, watermelon margaritas from The Eagles, watermelon shots from Nauti’s, along with all the other treasures I found there …

We veered off the path to stop in at the Crystal Beach Volunteer Fire Department Fund Raiser at Gulf Range. It offered me a chance to bid on a very special item at the Silent Auction … I won! Won, is that the right term? Yea, I won the right to purchase the item I bid on – Thanks Dana!

Hey, I hear Billy got raffled off, he went for $500, love this guy – but $500???

Anyway, my friend drove the whole trip from Jose’s down to the beach, back up to Tiki, back down to the beach, back up to Nauti’s, back to the beach and back up to The Eagles, then finally down to the beach and back up to Stingaree. I wish we had traded places at the wheel, my tan/burn is all on one side, hers is on the other! Our last stop was Stingaree where trophies were handed out for best costume, best vehicle and most watermelon seeds and whose Baby survived. I’m surprised any babies survived, I didn’t see many responsible parents by the end of this parade!

Kidding!
Everyone had a rip-snorting time, the crowd was outrageous.

Watermelon Crawl – I would’ve sworn Tracy Byrd was right there with us – I think he was, dressed as Elvis!
