I’ve been busier than a one-armed paper hanger these last few days before Christmas. Our family began arriving on Thursday, and the house turned upside down. Pies and cookies were a necessity. Thank goodness I had my top notch chef, I became the sous chef. And thank goodness for all the sweet gifts from neighbors, we have plenty for Santa when he arrives. Addyson even chopped up some carrots and celery for the reindeer.
The rest will arrive in a few minutes in the big travel trailer. They’ll be bringing it to get all their loot back home to League City. Teen agers require bigger gifts than these young’uns. You know, stuff for their trucks and cars.
I slept in a bit longer than I expected this morning, but as soon as I got up, Addyson and I made the pumpkin pie for Aunt Leigh. The apple pie and pecan pies were ready by last night, but we were all too tired to feast.
All the girls went on our annual Nutcracker Ballet engagement, it’s an outing we all look forward to, lunch at Papasitos before with some margarita’s to cheer us on.
Dinner will be Christmas Eve and all is ready to go into the oven while we go to mass. Addyson will be the alter server, her alb has been washed and ironed.
Let’s not forget the reason for the season, Jesus is the reason. If you’re reading this today, it’s Christmas and this is the day Mary and Joseph brought Jesus, our savior, into our lives.
As I’m writing this, it’s the day before Christmas, we’ll be snug in our beds with visions of sugar plums and so on and so on … pretty soon. So here’s wishing all a goodnight.
