Oh what a journey!

Oh what a journey! We left at 4 am on the Saturday before Christmas for our trip to North Carolina to see our youngest daughter, Kelly, 4 year old Addyson, and 2 year old Michael. Daddy is in Afghanistan. The rented RV was rock’n and roll’n, packed to the gills with games, comforters, snacks, DVDs, kindles…you name it, we had it! The six of us merrily chugged along: our League City daughter, Leigh, her husband Paul, and our two oldest grandkids, Emma, 13, and Grant, 11. The grandkids simply left the comfort of their beds at home to cozy into the comfort of their RV bunks.

Both trips, there and back, 18+ hours, seemed to pass effortlessly. All the grown ups took turns driving, everyone took turns co-piloting, and the hours slipped by. Many games played, many naps taken, many pages read. The “in between” was the most fun though! Arriving at 12:30 am on Sunday morning, everyone was so excited to be at our destination. It was difficult to settle down for the night, especially with the sensation of still moving and bumping along. Addyson and Michael knew Grandma, PawPaw, Aunt Leigh, Unkie Paul, and Emma & Grant would be there when they awoke. How exciting to be awakened by the two little ones!

With Christmas just two days away, the Christmas Tree was decorated, presents all over the living room and of course, Christmas Eve Mass to attend and thank God for all our abundant blessings. As PawPaw and I sat in the pew just behind our family, we prayed for our lovely family. We missed those not with us, Matthew & Camber back in Pearland and our Son-in-Law, Michael, deployed, protecting our country.

It sounds like a grand time was had by all! As Ed said, RVng is a wonderful experience and the journey to the destination is what makes it so rich! Glad y’all had this opportunity to bond more and enjoy each others complaint. Although I’m sure there were some “odors” that go with RVng that are better left unmentioned! 😉
Bob and I look forward to beginning our RVng travels next year and hope to have some of our Grandkids along at times!
    Thanks for sharing!

RVng provides a quality experience for all involved- I spent 10yrs on the road during those Christmas holiday getaways that would last a month or more- the incredible scenic vistas and local atmospheres of the South Texas points of interests- Lake Amistad (Del Rio) – Choke Canyon (Three Rivers) – Falcon Lake (Zapata) – The TriCity Area (My Birth Place) – Laguna Madre- Corpus Cristi- Mustang Island- Pelican Island- Port O’Connor- and all points along the coast- It’s a wonderful life-
