You better Hong Kong Believe it Sweetheart!
Every time I cruise down I-45 toward town or coming back from town, I will think about the 305 minutes I will never get back. I just spent the better part of yesterday, first thing this morning and this afternoon upon returning from work on my Defensive Driving Safety Exam. Yep, 305 minutes out of my life. But you might ask, “Will this make me a better driver, maybe a better person?”
I believe it will, in fact, I think it’s a very humbling experience and a very eye-opening experience to go through this Driver Safety program. I would recommend it highly to any of you who have become a little too relaxed in your driving capabilities. The seat belt portion, the drinking/driving repurcusions, and trains. Holy Cow, the video on train crossings, walking on train tracks, fishing from a train trestle, double tracks – I caught myself closing my eyes anticipating what I knew was about to happen to those poor people. Never stop on train tracks, never go around the barricade arms, wait until the arms are raised. Sometimes there are no barricade arms, always stop and make sure there’s no train coming.
I must admit, last evening, as it became close to Happy Hour, I decided to pour a glass of wine, have a little toddy while I attempted to finish one more lesson. BIG MISTAKE, I scored 3 out of 5 on that particular exam. It just wasn’t worth it. Hey, at least I didn’t go get in the car, gimme a break.
Seriously, this has been a very sobering time in my life. When I told my youngest, the 37 year old, I would spending my Sunday taking my Driver’s Safety Exam, “Gosh Mom, What are you, an 18 year old?”
Enough already!
