Okay, it feels like our “Summer” has finally begun

By Georgia Osten
Yesterday was our Texas Crab Festival Celebration, marking the end of the 2019 Texas Crab Festival. The festival was a rainy mess, but we managed to make a profit, even with front gate sales down and beer sales down. Crab Festival Charities was still able to grant 4 scholarships at High Island’s Graduation last Friday. That’s what “Charities” is all about – Giving back to the Community!

We celebrated our oldest grandson’s graduation, a dual High School/College graduation with his Associates Degree already, Summa Cum Laude, and off to Colorado School of Mines in the Fall.

ALL our family members reside in Texas now. With the deployment of our son-in-law approaching, our Carolina family relocated back to Texas. Bittersweet, but so wonderful to have them near for the next year.

Tom and I will have a few months off until we need to begin working on 2020 Texas Crab Festival. We’re asked often when we’ll step down, especially from our family. We’ve gradually included the whole family, they all play a part in the greatness and success.

Truth is, this Festival is such an important event to us. It’s our passion – the Festival, the community and the people who live here. It’s an incredible gathering of people working together, we’re indebted to you all, our friends and colleagues.
