One extreme to the other

We’ve gone from one extreme to the other on the commencement ceremonies we attended this year. Two weeks ago, we attended the High Island High School Graduation – 16 high school seniors graduating. We have a special attachment to these amazing individuals, proud of each and every one of them. We’ve watched them aspire to do well and receive scholarships awarded by Texas Crab Festival Charities, The Bolivar Lions Club and The Bolivar Peninsula Chamber of Commerce just to name a few. And just last Friday, we attended the Clear Springs High School Graduation – over 600 high school seniors graduating, $28 million in scholarships. Our oldest granddaughter graduated cum laude. Could we be any prouder? I think not!

It’s been an exciting weekend to say the least. Relatives from as far away as Colorado and North Carolina and countless other local family and friends came to Emma’s Graduation Party on Saturday night. Our son-in-law barbecued – it’s no wonder he’s placed Grand Champion at the majority of BBQ Cook Offs he’s competed in. Back home in North Carolina, 5 year old Michael had his piano recital, 9 year old Addyson had her piano recital and singing recital. I’m hoping they’ll be an inspiration for little brother, 4 year old Dax.

Next up on the graduation circuit will be Grant, our oldest grandson. At this point, Grant is thinking of attending Rice, but who knows who may pick him up by then. The twins will be two years old by then and their older brother will be five.

Wow, are we blessed – 8 grandkids! The twins, who are 8 weeks old now, have already spent the weekend at the beach, attended their first graduation exercises and most recently traveled to Oklahoma to meet their new cousin (extended family). I hope we’re able to make it to their graduations in 17 years.

We love you Emma, Congrats! Watch out Baylor!
