The Outdoor Association for Texas Heroes (OATH) sponsored a shark fishing trip for veterans this weekend in Crystal Beach. Several military veterans and families attended this annual event, providing these heroes an opportunity to relax and enjoy time at the beach. Glen Dickerson and his associates from Tx-Sharkfishing.com set up camp on the beach and provided all the tackle and know-how to make sure the vets had the best chance at reeling in a prize catch. A big thanks to Rick Tyson and Sea Pony Bait Shop in Winnie for providing all the bait.
“Outdoor Association for Texas Heroes, Incorporated, or OATH, Inc., is a faith based Nonprofit Organization that utilizes various outdoors activities centered around Faith, Family, and Community to improve the quality of life of our resident Texas Veterans who have been wounded or disabled as a result of direct combat action in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Vietnam.”
Founded by Gary Bartels, a two-time Iraqi veteran, OATH has 54 registered members. “The Good Lord brought me home safe and sound for a reason, said Gary, “this is my calling, my mission in life, I’ll do it until the day I die.” He further added, “OATH absolutely benefits veterans and non-veterans, everyone involved – it improves the quality of life.”
My husband and I love to camp on the beach. We were told there was an area only for veterans to camp on the beach. Can you please tell me where this is located near Crystal Beach? Or anywhere in that area. We will be coming with our RV on Sept. 30th till Saturday.
Thanks so much for your help!!
