Crystaland Christmas Parade

The Annual Crystaland Christmas Parade, sponsored by Bolivar Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, was last Saturday evening. As one of the largest parades they’ve ever had, it was matched with smiles and holiday cheer from the many participants and supporters. There were decorated jeeps, golf carts, and floats galore, adorned with lights, costumed riders, jingling reindeer, dolphins, and even a flying pig.

The parade started at the Crystal Beach Fire Station led by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The floats traveled down the beach and all along the parade route believers big and small were lined up with festive anticipation. They cozied up to their blazing campfires as they cheered and waved to the paraders.

Upon the return to the fire station, Santa and Mrs. Claus met with all of the eager children. As is the tradition, the Lighthouse Krewe served hot dogs and refreshments while Larry Skiles entertained everyone playing Christmas tunes on his keyboard. Big Daddy Larry then took the microphone to announce the parade winners, as well as the winners of the home and business lighting contest. Santa’s big trek is quickly approaching.

Thank you to all of the believers for another magical parade. Merry Christmas!
