Perk up your day

coffee_00New to Bolivar is the one of a kind drive-thru coffee shop, 3rd Coast Coffee. Located at 1136 Hwy. 87 at the corner of Sage Road, 3rd Coast Coffee offers a variety of flavorful coffees and espressos including the #1 selling espresso imported from Italy. “It’s sweet and light, like a medium roast that Americans are used to…this is real Italian espresso,” says owner and operator Mary Ferguson Bradford. The menu is also loaded with a delicious assortment of unique baked goods, including red velvet, pecan caramel, chocolate, and tiramisu cake cups, large chocolate chip cookies, and hand dipped cake balls.

Mary previously practiced law in Beaumont and has had a home in Bolivar for years. She now lives here full time. She has always dreamed of opening her own coffee shop and working with her son, 22 year old David Bradford, the head in-house baker. “He’s a very careful and fastidious, clean baker,” says the proud mother.

Mary had no prior experience with this type of undertaking, though she had her hand on every aspect of this business creation. She followed all the extensive rules and regulations, got all permits herself, moved the building to its location on the Peninsula, elevated it and worked closely with builder Mike Comeaux to finalize the project. And now, after nearly four years of working on this new venture, Mary and David have opened their ingenious ramp-up beach coffee shop. “I’m thrilled to finally be open. Latte is what we do!” said Mary.

Mary worked with a close friend and designer/sculptor from Czechoslovakia, Katerina Pinosova, to create the 3rd Coast Coffee Shop signature coffee mug displayed on the sign out front. Katerina began the design with a wire frame armature, and developed it into the unique design that represents 3rd Coast Coffee.
