Praise in the Park

“We are all God’s adopted children-and one day in Heaven he will be looking back at us.” Michael Feighan
There are special people in our world who bring faith, love and joy into our lives. Sometimes we are lucky enough to meet and become friends with them. One such person is MICHAEL FEIGHAN. Michael is a man of many talents. He credits God for all that he has. A member of Christian band Whitecross, Michael ranked as one of the top 10 drummers in Christian music. Whitecross performed not only in the United States, but also South America and Europe. The group won three Dove Awards.

Micheal became an on-demand drummer for many groups. He is a presence at Community Church in Crystal Beach. He was finally led to come out from behind his drums. This quiet, humble man began writing and performing his own music based on life experiences. His voice is reminiscent of Rod Stewart. (However, I think Michael does, “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You”, better than Rod.)

Debbie and Kurt Ploeger hosted PRAISE IN THE PARK at A SHORE VENTURE for Michael to sing and share the genesis of his music. This hidden gem on Bolivar Peninsula provided a perfect venue. Members of his family pitched in to help. These included three beautiful women: wife Christie, daughter Tatiana, and mother-in-law Georgia Harris. Christie frequently hopped on stage to share the provenance of several compositions.

The cool, twilight setting in A Shore Venture’s Park was a perfect choice. Michael shared stories of how God had led him to this moment. Each song had a reason for its inception. Creations “Joy of Life”, “I Still Believe” and “Before Time Began”, all on YouTube, are magical. Then he told the story of his and Christie’s efforts to adopt a little girl from Russia. So much time and hard work went into their endeavor. They often felt as if the adversity would never end. That struggle is at the heart of my favorite piece, “Someone Prayed”.

“When I was down. When I had doubt. In the storm of life with no way out… Someone, somewhere prayed for me.”

After a long, arduous journey, Christie and blond-haired, blue-eyed Irishman Michael brought home lovely little blond-haired, blue-eyed Tatiana – because as Michael sings, “Someone Prayed”. What a fitting finale for such uplifting musical moments at PRAISE IN THE PARK!
