It was 1963 when seminary student W. C. Hall was assigned to a new church in Crystal Beach, Texas. That was BayVue United Methodist Church. The name came from its location on BayVue Street. Today that building is Second Going Resale Store. W.C. lived in a small apartment on top of the edifice. A wheezing organ was donated to the group. Since Rev. Hall is an accomplished pianist, he not only preached, but played this musical gift. It did have one defect. The last note played would hang on forever, so W.C. had to kick it when he finished playing and started praying.

Rev. Hall and the group worked to begin the present building for BayVue Methodist Church. Although it was damaged in Hurricane IKE, most of the housing remained and was repaired after the storm. BayVue United Methodist, under the leadership of Pastor Valerie Hudson, decided that it was time to thank this fine man. Rev. Hall was honored at a special ceremony in the sanctuary on September 27. Robert Courville presented him a love offering from members and friends of the church. A special plaque will be placed in the entry in gratitude for his services. Another tribute was a clock to remind him that as time passes the church folk always think of him. Afterwards, he was treated to lunch at Stingaree Restaurant.

Reverend W.C. Hall has helped so many people. He has fostered seventeen children. He assisted in bringing a Cambodian family to the United States. He served in numerous towns across Texas and now substitutes for ministers whenever and wherever needed. He has loved and helped those who are the “least of these.”

To Reverend W.C. Hall
“Well done, thou great and faithful servant.”
