By Ed Snyder/OutdoorsFlounder, trout, reds, all made their runs this last week, but the saddle blanket flounder never made a move; don’t know why, but if they’re still in the marsh, an arctic front may catch them and put future flounder runs in trouble. We’re winding down now with off-season banging at our doors. This next post-Xmas fishing report will be my last for the year. Meanwhile, lets hope this next week will put some keepers in the angler creels so my last report will be a good one. As they say in South Tejas (where I’m from) Feliz Navidad, to you and your friends and families.
Speckled Trout
Night time is STILL the right time, but what time? They’ve been hitting from dark-30 to 1:00 am.
(Limit: 15 inch minimum for 10 trout with only one 25 inch trout per day allowed as part of your daily limit)
Redfish (Red Drum)
Sporadic at best.
(Limit: 20 inch minimum to 28 inch maximum for 3 reds per day – one over 28 inch allowed when properly tagged)
Black Drum
Steady for slots and bulls.
(Limit: 14” Minimum for 5 Daily with all 30” plus released)
Flounder
Smaller 14 to 19 inchers with NO SADDLE BLANKETS AS YET.
(Limit: 14 inch minimum for 5 fish per day limit)
Whiting/Croaker
Whiting surf action only, very few croaker.
(No Limits)
Sandtrout/Gulftrout
Sandies NIL, gulf trout no-show.
(No Limits)
Blue Claw Crab
Crabs beginning to vacate to deeper waters.
(Limit: 5 inches between points with no berry crabs (females with eggs) allowed)
Stone Crabs
None.
(Limit: only right claw may be kept when 2-1/2 inches above first Knuckle)
