Rollover Pass Report, Oct-4 thru Oct-11, 2015

By Ed Snyder/Outdoors
Regardless of periodic slowdowns on the bite, Rollover produced great catches this past week with most species providing quality catches. Boxes of croaker made those family fish fries; redfish kept night-shift, day-shift and surf anglers busy with slots and bulls; flounder were being caught by the 100s -BUT- were mostly the smaller males heading to the gulf for nesting; and drum were still drumming for the drummers. Speckled trout did very well for the bridge and surf anglers with its smaller cousin, the sandy, beginning to show up in numbers. The only way fishing could get any better folks is after our first cold front arrives — be patient, it’s coming.

Speckled Trout
Within the cut, the bridge is key with early tides are targeted; surf is providing great trout action when you can locate them; the east bay is HOT with bird action and will only get better.
(Limit: 15 inch minimum for 10 trout with only one 25 inch trout per day allowed as part of your daily limit)

Redfish (Red Drum)
Redfish runs at night are amazing with the dark/30 to 1 am hours producing; dayshift runs are sporadic but productive.
