SANBO MASH Clinic

sanbo00Last Wednesday night, Debbie Ploeger and Debby Ward left the SANBO sponsored MASH Spay and Neuter Clinic around 8 pm exhausted but with the greatest sense of pride and accomplishment for what everyone helped coordinate and implement. Out of 57 applications received, 36 animals (and their owners) were served. “We had only three weeks to put this HUGE event together,” said Debbie. This is the second spay and neuter clinic organized by the SANBO founders, whose mission is to provide an opportunity for pet owners on Bolivar Peninsula to have their animals spayed or neutered, thereby preventing unwanted litters. SANBO is a community project of Texas Crab Festival Charities, and this free clinic was made possible through donations from animal lovers.

SANBO would like to give a shout out to all those who helped with this event:

Dr. Kelley Kays with Dowlen Road Veterinary Center and her team Michael, Michelle & Kait – They worked non-stop yesterday for more than 12 hours. You ROCK and we love you for supporting our community and this important cause.

Crystal Beach Fire Station & Janny Looper – Thank you for allowing us to invade your space. We hope we left the facility in good order and pray we are invited back in the future.

Tracy Barnett – thanks for so graciously offering accommodations for Kelley & her staff at the Bungalow. I’m sure the comfy beds were a welcome site (especially Wednesday night). The love you show the animals as well as the community is a light to us all.

Joe & Shana Lilley – You were such a great help in the back with Kelley and her staff and well as all the pre-clinic promoting, set-up, clean-up and whatever else you were asked to do.

Rich & Sharon Fleer – your help with posting flyers around the peninsula was so critical. Thanks too for the cash donation to SANBO from you and your son Rick.

Donna Singer and Beach Memories Photography – we love your heart for these animals and you captured the essence in your photos that you posted and shared on Facebook.

Danyette Savoie – What a joy it is to work with a fellow animal lover and true advocate. Your donation of puppy pads, networking, moral support, and more are so appreciated.

Andrea & Corey Weber – Thanks for the help with printing, distributing & collecting the applications, fielding Facebook messages, etc. Andrea, you were never more than a text away and we appreciate you so much.

Tiki Beach Bar & Grill (Karen & Chris Gatlin) – Thank you for feeding the vet and their team not one, but TWO nights. You will now have future customers for life. They LOVED the food.

Steve’s Landing – Thank you for the donation of the gift cards for future use by Kelley and her crew.

TCF Charities – Without YOUR endorsement and support, SANBO would not exist. Thank you for sharing in our vision of serving the pets and their owners on the Bolivar Peninsula and making it a great place to live and visit.

In addition to the $145 in donations we received just prior to the clinic, we received another $180 from multiple residents the day of. There were numerous people that also inquired as to how they can give to this cause. The easiest way to give and for us to track is to write a check to TCF Charities and mention SANBO in the memo section. Mail to TCF Charities, c/o Debbie Ploeger, PO Box 2004, Crystal Beach, TX 77650. If giving cash, please put in envelope and reference SANBO and give to Debby Ward or Debbie Ploeger so we can document and deposit in our TCF Charities account/fund.

Kurt Ploeger – You fed us so well for breakfast and lunch. Lots of raves on the spaghetti.

To everyone that let us borrow crates, donated dog or cat food and towels, etc. your support is so appreciated.

THANK YOU to all the pet owners who care enough for their beloved pets and our community to have them spayed or neutered. Not only does it reduce “littering” on the beach, but there is a host of health benefits to the pet to have them fixed.

And finally, to all the dogs and cats; thank you for behaving and waiting so patiently for your turn in the “mash room”. We hope you’re as thankful as we are for the love and support of the people that helped make this happen for you.

Much love and gratitude,

Debbie Ploeger & Debby Ward, Co-Founders of SANBO
“It takes a Peninsula!”
