Scattershots From the Ranch, Nov-6

On October 25th, the “Ranch” was officially named the “Wallis Smith Community Golf Course,“ in tribute to the man who made golf on the peninsula a reality. Thanks, Wallis.

The “Ranch” derives its pseudonym from three sources. Prior to being purchased by Wallis Smith, the property was known as the P. Cross Ranch. Wallis Smith renamed it Rancho Carribe. Finally, golf courses in their early lives are often referred to as Goat Ranches because of the difficulty of cultivating turf grasses, especially on the coast. For the thousands of golfers who have played it, how could it ever be referred to as anything else?
