Sea Turtle Nest Patrols

Turtle Island Restoration Network (TIRN) is seeking volunteers for Sea Turtle Nest Patrols. From April 1st through July 15th, our volunteers and staff patrol the beaches of Bolivar, Galveston and Follet’s Island in search of sea turtles and nesting tracks to help protect our endangered species. Patrols run Monday through Saturday, 7-9 AM and 10 AM – noon. We have 11 routes to choose from, with UTV riding routes on Bolivar, Follet’s and Galveston and walking routes on Galveston. Shift selection will open up after training sessions have been completed. They will be first come first serve and volunteers are expected to commit to one shift a week for the entire season.


Sea Turtle Patrol training sessions will be held at the following locations:

Surfside: Saturday, February 9th, 9AM-1PM
Stahlman Park

Bolivar: Saturday, February 16th, 9AM-1PM
Crystal Beach Volunteer Fire Department

Galveston: Thursday, February 21st, 5PM-9PM
