Second Week of our Adventures

Tropical Storm Collin put a damper on our first two days in Georgia. I have to say, the storm was nothing, compared to a cold front hitting the Gulf Coast, but there was a lot of rain. I am not a fan of pine trees and we have been surrounded by them since we left Texas. I was a little concerned about those trees coming down on top of us, but we were lucky.

I am getting use to using the GPS in the dash of the truck and I have not picked up my map to check if the “Girl” is telling the truth. I have named her several names but I will not print some of them. Yesterday, I discovered you can back track on that map. How Cool!

Our first stop in Savannah was at the Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force. I have toured many museums in this country, including Washington DC, but this was the best. There is, of course a lot of planes to see, but the best part is the art on the walls or murals of the air fields in England and the volunteers that told the stories. RR’s daddy was in the 8th. I was so glad we had the chance to see some of his time in WWII. If you are in the area, try to stop.

Our trip to Savannah yesterday afternoon was short but fun. We took the scary steps down to the River Road but made sure to find an elevator up. We walked the road, shopped, ate and stopped at several visitors centers and picked up maps and tour guides to read for our next adventures into the city.

Tomorrow we are off to Richmond Hill, Ft McAllister, on the Oglethorpe River. Then of course, back to Savannah. I talked RR into the Trolley tour.
