Shopping, Shopping, Shopping

By Georgia Osten
It’s amazing how my kids indulge my desires to do my favorite things like shopping and laundry. Most recently, before the youngest kid and her family left for their great adventure, she brought with her a pile of laundry to be done before they boarded the plane. Knowing I wouldn’t be doing any of their laundry for a while, I dove right in. I lovingly washed lights with lights, darks with darks and whites with whites. That’s just the way I roll! Later, when the time was running low and the laundry kept coming, I must admit I may have thrown some lights in with darks and whites, but that doesn’t happen often.

Now, they’re in their new digs, but quarantined for two weeks and unable to get out to shop and run about. Knowing how I love to shop, I was asked to  pick up a few things. No problem! We happened to be in town last weekend to stay with The Littles. Feeling a bit guilty about leaving PawPaw with the gang, I ventured out on Saturday morning to hit a few of my favorite shopping establishments.

But first, the whole gang, came with me to Sam’s. It was quite a treat! The twins, 3 years old, and their 6 year old brother, overtook Sam’s! Everyone stayed out of their way (can’t blame them for that)! Typical, when we got there, I couldn’t find my Sam’s card. I was sure I forgot to pack it in my new wallet, so I proceeded to stand in line to get a temporary card. While I stood there, rummaging through my purse, I finally found it – DUH! That’s okay, the boys were enjoying looking at all the big screen TV’s.

When we were through, I dropped the boys back at home and went out solo to conquer all!

Bottom line, Monday morning, we were ready to put all the goodies into the mail to the quarantined folks. Popcorn, Velveeta and cans of Rotel, Dill flavored sunflower seeds, chewy Chips Ahoy, Kisses, Green Tea, Protein granola and a butter dish.

Back at home, in the quiet, I wonder what The Littles are doing. Probably destroying Mommy’s Closet upstairs. Oh dear, it’s nearly impossible to watch them 100% of the time. Sorry Mommy …

Happy to find someone else that does not mind doing clothes. I enjoy doing every ones clothes when we go on vacations. I’m not a morning person to rush out of the Hotel, so in my mornings I relax and do clothes. Oh and I am a sorter also!!!

When we first got married almost 50 years ago, Ruth sat me down to teach me how to sort clothes for washing. I guess it was somewhat important back then, but I was a quantity washer rather than a quality washer. Pink underwear didn’t bother me. Some of my method wore off on her though, as she is not semi-sorts now.
