Small Town Travels of Texas

cbyusBy Charlotte Byus
My sister and I will be leaving on a road trip soon. We enjoy stopping at every small town along the way. There is always a fun shop or a junk store to roam through. This trip to Tombstone and back could take twelve days, especially if we come home a different route. Several years ago we took off for a trip – one day we didn’t make 250 miles. Boy, did we have fun that day. We stopped in a town called Paint, Texas. We stopped to watch ladies making wool rugs and blankets on old looms. We struck up a conversation with the owner about our travels and he asked us if we had ever seen the Indian painting at Ms. so-in-so’s. We said no, so he picked up the phone and called her – yes, she was home. With instructions, off we went. The lady who owned the ranch was an art history teacher. She led us on our own tour of her ranch with all the Indian stone paintings and carvings.

Now that is how you see Texas.
See You Soon.
