Social Butterfly

Am I becoming my mother? I remember my mother talking to everyone, anyone, even complete strangers in the grocery store. “Mom, where do you know them from?” I found myself in The Big Store the other day, I went there to shop for mulch. I went back later to shop for bananas. I wonder why I can’t go once and get everything I need? Who knew The Big Store would have such a wide variety of mulch? A lady in the same aisle was reading the instructions on the packaging of something. It was killing me to know what product she was looking at. So, I asked her what she was tackling? Turns out it was an insecticide. That’s all I needed. I proceeded to recommend a Pest Control guy I use.

Then, of course, I had to tell her what to use for stickers in the yard because that product is on the same aisle. She was grateful and took a picture of the product. I really find the nicest people where I shop. Checking out at WalMart, the cashier noticed the L’Oreal product I was buying for wrinkles. After a long discussion with her and the other cashier, I found out a place that removes double chins and you can pay for it with Care Credit. I said, “great, I just paid these off with Care Credit,” pointing to my new teeth.

The cashier at Kroger commented on everything I was buying, she was also very helpful, telling me the English muffins were 2 for 1. She asked how the babies were doing (I was buying baby food). So, of course, I had to mention they were twins and they were both boys and their age, names, etc. The bagger said he had twins, they were 19. She told me I could freeze one, so I said, “one of the twins?” HaHa, the bagger says, “no, they don’t freeze well.”

Oh Mom, what on earth would you think if you could hear me now? You’d probably say “how do you know them?” And, you would wonder why I needed to tell everyone everything!!!

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you. Email: [email protected]
