Spring is in the air

By Georgia Osten
Feeling a touch of Spring in the air, seeing it on the trees and in the grass. A few days this past weekend have been enjoyable enough to be out in short sleeves. I’ve found plenty to do outdoors. Washed the dog, worked on the bugs on the front of the car, the ones the car wash didn’t budge. I even got my plants planted, some in the veggie garden and some others, impatiens and iris bulbs and caladiums.

One of the downfalls of this weather is the pollen. On Sunday, it hit me right in the face. My eyes swelled up and my head began to pound. My breathing kept waking me up last night, I was sure I was keeping my husband awake as well, so I got up in the dark and wandered to another bedroom where I hopefully, wouldn’t be bothering anyone. Maezy came with me. Seven AM came way too soon and I didn’t feel at all rested. I hope it passes quickly as there are other crises to be dealt with. When your family is in need, it’s time to Spring forward and hit the pavement. That’s what we do.

Spring Break is almost here and the beaches are heating up with family fun, the streets are getting more and more crowded. All the restaurants are doing an excellent business. Please be careful out there! We hear of incidents where people are going too fast on their ATV’s, there was one injury this weekend.

Someone posted a rattle snake on the beach at the end of Tinkle Road. Please keep your children and your pets off the dunes. The skunks are out in the evenings, our dogs are way too curious for their own good.

Be safe, enjoy yourselves and be responsible. Remember, this is our home, please respect our home.

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you. Email: [email protected]
