Sunny skies and a light breeze greeted the golfers as they teed up to compete in the annual Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Golf Tournament. A full flight of 9 teams were selected by blind draw at the Calcutta on Friday night, followed by lively bidding action to pick the winning team. On Saturday, Robin Kasiske checked in the players and handed out goodie bags, while Moody Fredenburg lined everyone up for the shotgun start. Tournament regulars, Gray and Terri Hays, hit the links with a fully stocked beverage cart, including their ‘secret recipe’ bloody marys, and Diana Agnew fired up the grill to prepare her signature pulled pork sandwiches for lunch.

Team 9 (John Milby, Cindy Scott, Bobby Stringer, and Jerry Riddles) shot a fine 10 under to take first place, followed by Team 6 (Sonny Makin, Marsha Fredenburg, David Holzier, and David Buchanan) with a 7 under. Third place was settled by a shoot-off won by Team 2 (Dewey Jones, Liz Harris, Paul Williams, and Brent Finch) after Brent landed his 100 yard approach shot about 10 feet from the pin. The Consolation Prize went to Team 1 (James Erwin, Patti Atkins, Bob Jackson, and Mike Trahan). Closest to the Pin honors went to Liz Harris (Hole #3) and David Holzier (Hole #8).
This event would not happen without the generous support of the volunteers, sponsors, and participants. All proceeds go to the Chamber Scholarship Fund, providing a college scholarship to a deserving Bolivar teen.
