That Darn Phone

Earlier this month, we had August Birthday Dinner at Di’s home. We had a wonderful day with all that could attend, some grandchildren, brothers, sister and both daughters and son-in-laws. There was great food and laughter. We also did some plumbing at Di’s home. When it was time to go, I accidentally left my phone on the coffee table at Di’s home.

I posted on Face Book not to call me as no one would answer, which as some of you may know is normal for me. But, I am good about returning your call when my phone is found. Don’t laugh, this is true. With that being said, RR always answers his phone and always knows where it is. But over the last two days the thing has not rang or blinked. So those who would normally call RR when I am not aware that my phone is missing in action did not get a response. In other words, Di tried to call her Daddy and he did not answer so she tried to text her Dad and that did not work either. She had her husband try and no response to that either. So she tried Face Book.

On Monday, I was playing in the flowers and washing clothes, so I did not check Face Book. On Tuesday, RR and I headed for Galveston for shopping. RR’s phone did not ring Monday night or any on Tuesday.

CALL THE Calvary!!! Something is wrong with Mom and Dad! So Di calls Laura here on the peninsula and she sends Chris down to check on us when he does his mail run. Well guess what, we are gone! So he checks with neighbors. They have not seen us for two days, so they call more neighbors, you see where this is going. We get home, get the groceries in the house and he started his nap, I shed all those nice clothes for very little of nothing, as it is hot. There is a knock at the door. Hi There, Where have ya’ll been? Is RR in the hospital? Is everything ok? And, I am looking at her like she has grown two heads. Finally, I understand what is going on. Of course, I think it is my sister that has started all this, but boy was I wrong.

Now, this child that has been so worried is the one I wrote the story about the “Wednesday phone calls.” You see, we would go for weeks without hearing from her, she is busy.

I’m telling you, I dislike that darn phone even more!
