The Adoption of “Gringo”

A TRUE “FULL OF (BABY) BULL” STORY!
The excitement in Kona Kai subdivision Friday, January 25, 2013 centered on a little white bull calf caught in a fence. His momma had rejected him. The other momma cows did not want him either. He was an orphan.

Gary Huebel quickly called owner Walter Nelson. Walter asked Gary to do what he could to help the calf, or if nothing could be done, let nature take its course. Gary immediately took off in his Ranger to try to move the baby bull with the herd. He did not follow, so Gary tried again later. The little fellow was not sighted on Saturday.

Walter and Gary found the calf on Sunday. They were instructed to feed him Gatorade because the drink contained electrolytes. Baby bull did not initially want the drink, but with help from Walter, he guzzled it down. Still, the calf did not have a family, but Gary Huebel and Esther Sarabia fell in love with him. They christened him “Gringo” and adopted him on the spot. The couple headed to a feed store on Monday and purchased the necessary supplies.

Gringo, with Esther and Gary

Gringo now has a pen in Walter’s pasture. Gary installed windbreaks and a roof. Esther and Gary feed him twice a day. He continues to thrive with their love and care. If you decide to visit him, he will greet you happily. Gringo lives in hope that you have brought him a bottle because he is always hungry.

That is the true “Full of (Baby) Bull” Story of Gringo and how he found a home with Gary and Esther. By the way, his nickname is “The Bolivar Stud Muffin.”
