The Amazing Journey of a Shoebox

By Linda Elissalde
The Amazing Journey of a Shoebox in BayVue United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall starts with the amazing Jane Loose. Jane presents a plan each Christmas that will help others around the world. The gifts this Christmas will be packed in special decorated shoeboxes. People pack shoebox gifts each year to send to children in need. These are collected the third week of November, and thousands of volunteers inspect and prepare the boxes for international shipping. Churches around the world distribute boxes to youngsters in more than 100 countries. Children receive the gifts along with Gospel booklets that allow them to learn about God’s Greatest Gift, His Son, Jesus Christ.

Drop by BayVue UMC if you are interested in filling one of these charming containers. You will get a box, or boxes, with lists of items to include for a boy or a girl. BayVue members and others are to have the filled boxes at the church by Sunday, November 12. Each person is asked to include $9.00 to cover the costs of handling and shipping.

Imagine the joy of a child when he or she opens this simple shoebox to find it filled with outfits, accessories, hygiene items, school supplies, and TOYS. Thanks to Jane Loose, the amazing journey of a simple shoebox can begin with you.
