Back in the early 2000s Lori and Doug Considine decided to host a little end of summer gathering for Crystal Canal neighbors. It turned out that Lori’s dad Dan Hafner happened to have a birthday in August. Why not combine the two events? That is just what they did. A group gathered to party at the same time; same place for 11 years. It grew so big that a new name and a new venue were needed. The party moved to a grassy area by the Intracoastal Waterway and was proclaimed the official CRYSTAL CANAL END OF SUMMER PARTY. Dennis and Elaine Rollfing build a wonderful house on the land and took over hosting this popular event. Mark St. Claire bought the Rollfing’s home when they moved. He was quickly informed by neighbors that hosting Crystal Canal End of Summer Party came with the house. He delightfully joined right in, and said, “ I will do as I am told.” Mr. St. Clair is a delightful, and obviously smart, gentleman. Of course, he would have lots of help.
This year’s celebration was just as magical as those in the past. Peninsula breezes, a perfectly dazzling sunset, succulent barbecue supplied by Chuck Lindsey, creative side dishes, scrumptious desserts and music by Al White’s band made for an unforgettable evening.
Multiple years have hurried by on Bolivar Peninsula. Hurricanes, storms, mosquitoes, sizzling summers, ragweed, packed crowds come and go. BUT, when it comes to Crystal Canal’s annual End of Summer celebration – THE PARTY NEVER ENDS!
